The poetic work of Canadian photographer Deanna Pizzitelli continues to explore personal experiences and fascinations. Her recent series "Koža", the Slovak word for skin, was photographed during her time spent living in Slovakia and traveling throughout Europe. Using a variety of papers and processing methods, her intimate photographs appear like the remains of an important photographic archive depicting a long lost time and place. Each photograph describes a real moment meant to give a glimpse into a story - a story fictional in its entirety. Pizzitelli's images create a visual journey exploring unknown places with a haunting familiarity to loss, longing, and desire.
