Purchasing Photographs

Purchasing photographs

The Gallery is pleased to assist individuals, corporations and institutions in the purchase of photographs, whether individually or in collections.

Selected clients include the National Gallery of Canada, Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography, Library of Congress, USA, National Gallery of Australia, la Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Paris, SFMOMA, San Francisco, CA, Houston Museum of Fine Arts, Texas, the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto, and la Musée de l'Elysée, Switzerland, to name a few.

We enjoy working with individuals who are new to collecting, as well as with established collectors, and can conduct searches for fine examples of specific photographs, work by specific photographers or by genre, type and style.

The Gallery maintains an inventory of approximately 15,000 photographs in primary and secondary market material.

In addition to publishing catalogues of work by represented artists, the Gallery has a collection of over 2,500 titles of new and out-of-print books available for sale.

Preview of Artwork:

Special arrangements can be made for the private viewing of artworks when considering a purchase.

Educational services:

We welcome groups to the gallery’s exhibitions and with advance notice we can provide spoken presentations on current shows as well as on our general activities. We ask that individual groups not exceed 15-20 persons at a time.

Stephen Bulger also regularly accepts offers to speak on various topics surrounding the history of making and collecting photography.
